About Vent.
A place to let a thought become something worth sharing.
Meet Niveen Sherif .
Neveen is the writer behind Vent. Her essays and fiction explore the connections between the body and mind, human relationships, language, faith, and imagination. Her work often begins with an ordinary observation and follows the larger questions it opens.
The purpose of the journal.
Vent is a personal journal for exploring how we experience life, understand ourselves, and make meaning. Its goal is to bring scientific curiosity, personal reflection, and storytelling into conversation—and to give readers a place to pause, question familiar assumptions, and see an everyday experience from another angle.
Curiosity, given room.
The journal brings together personal essays, conceptual explorations, and fiction. Ideas are allowed room to develop: a question can become an essay, an observation can become a hypothesis, and an imagined world can reveal something about our own.
Vent is presented in English. Translated pieces preserve the ideas and qualifications of their original manuscripts. Essays proposing hypotheses retain that framing, and fictional pieces are collected separately so readers can find the kind of writing they want.
